Dentons New Zealand
The Australasian patent practice group for Dentons, based in Auckland, is looking for more patent attorneys to meet the growing demands of their practice.
Our patent practice group act across the Australasian region for a wide range of local clients in both New Zealand and Australia, and also for leading multinational corporations. With Kensington Swan officially joining Dentons as of February 2020, this opening presents a wide range of exciting opportunities. These include the potential to gain exposure to client work outside of New Zealand as part of a global law firm, and to become an early member of a rapidly growing team and brand in New Zealand.
We have demand for work across a wide range of skill levels and technology areas, and would like to hear from all interested patent attorneys, regardless of tenure. The pace at which we are growing means that we can have unusual flexibility in tailoring the role to suit the skills and level of experience of the right candidate, so we would like to talk with any patent attorneys who could be interested in becoming an early member of a rapidly growing New Zealand-based practice in a global law firm.
Our primary needs are for attorneys with backgrounds in mechanical, mechatronics, or electrical engineering. However, we will consider applicants with other technical backgrounds if they have adequate experience in the core engineering practice areas.
While an ideal candidate would be qualified as a Trans-Tasman patent attorney, candidates with overseas patent attorney qualifications are welcomed to apply. We would also be willing to consider partially qualified attorneys if their skill sets aligned adequately with our current or future needs.
We are able to offer highly competitive market salary packaging, incentive pay, salary sacrifice packaging, additional leave programs (purchased leave, parental leave) and referral bonuses.
What you will be doing:
- Providing a broad range of patent services including drafting, filing, prosecution, infringement advice services.
- Working for both New Zealand and Australian based clients, as well as international entities.
- Working with overseas attorneys, in particular in the United States, to deliver on multi-jurisdictional matters.
- Assisting in the development and improvement of attorney systems and processes.
To apply, please include your current CV and a cover letter.
Dentons has an internal Talent Acquisition team that works directly with candidates on all of our career opportunities. Dentons does not accept external agency applications for this role.
